Kirsty is a multi-award winning consultant, coach and speaker with over 20 years of experience and was recognised in 2016 as Small Business Woman of the Year by Soroptimist International.
As a communications specialist, it was crucial for Kirsty that her website should reflect her skill level and showcase her services.
Kirsty's WordPress site was tired and hard to navigate, which meant the user had to do a lot of leg work to understand the wealth and variety of Kirsty’s offering.
A key goal of the new platform was to establish an overview of Kirsty’s skills and services for the user within a few moments of visiting the website. We wanted to retain the depth of content but make it intuitive to explore.
Following our discovery phase we concluded with Kirsty that the red and burgundy colour scheme was heavy for the user and contributing to the dated feel of the old platform, so Kirsty decided to rebrand with fresh and natural tones.
This reduced cognitive load and created more space for Kirsty’s personality and depth of knowledge to come through. Kirsty had some strong design ideas and loved the use of angles that we incorporated to the design.
We decided to implement a two-tier navigation to overcome the challenge of simplifying the communication of Kirsty’s offering without losing that depth. The first tier includes a page and introductory video for each key service area whilst the second tier houses Kirsty’s bestselling book, downloadable resources and blog information.
To further improve navigation, we implemented Drupal core search, adjusting the core displays to limit the searchable content types.
Having completed the design and development, we migrated some of the existing content including 100 blog articles and we were then ready to launch.
During the project, Kirsty requested some features to enable her to attach rich content to some pages that led us to think about some content management components from a new perspective. We implemented these for Kirsty and added them to our roadmap for existing and future projects for other clients, too.
